Practice and theory
Future horticulturists gather practical experience at a recognised apprenticeship firm. Only those with the right qualifications are allowed to serve as trainers. Highly specialised businesses often form alliances with other firms to give their trainees a broader knowledge base. Classes outside the company at training and testing facilities or training centres of the German Federal Association of Agricultural Technology Educational Institutions (DEULA) complement and enhance the training. Trainees also regularly attend a vocational school once or twice a week or in teaching blocks.
